X1263 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}2/KW. 12th September, 1936. The S.U. Company Ltd., East Works, Adderley Park, Birmingham 8. For the attention of Mr. Skinner. Dear Sirs, With regard to the change in diaphragms, valves and retaining clips, we would be glad if you would mark pumps made with these alterations and also those which come back through service for repair, with some mark other than the serial number which is impossible to see when the pump is on the car. Pumps returned to you from service already in nearly all cases bear the letters G.M.1 on the side, and we suggest you make some addition in the form of a letter or number which will cover all the materials now specified for the pump; i.e.(1) brass valves and new retaining clips, (2) G.3 diaphragm material. The high lift pump is being fitted onto the car, and on the rig test seemed amply powerful enough for the position in which it is to be fitted. The pump was tested with 30" suction and 4 ft. delivery head when it gave 184 pints/hour; this represents the car on a gradient of 1 in 3 1/2. In the level position it delivered 240 pts/hour. We are anxious to receive the quietened Bentley pump to run in France, and hope you have obtained delivery of the washers. I would be obliged if you could send me some damping washers for test purposes when you obtain delivery, and also 12. G.3 material diaphragms. Yours faithfully, | ||
