Derby, ENGLAND Dear Mr. Robotham: Thank you for your letter of September 19, enclosing blueprint #PD-252 for the consideration of our Engineering Department. We are in a position to supply you both experimental and production quantities of ZERO-LASH Hydraulic Valve Lifters and shall be glad to quote you on both sample lots and 1000 sets per year for production purposes. We assume the latter means 12,000 lifters. Is this correct? Our Engineering Department are proceeding with the tentative design of a tappet, using your blueprint #PD-252, but before final design can be arrived at we should like to compute inertia, spring loads, etc., and suggest that you supply us information for this purpose; Camshaft drawings, weights of all valve reciprocating parts, valve spring characteristics, maximum speed, etc., as well as lubricating oil pressure and diagram of oiling system indicating the most feasible method of oil supply to the tappets. We are anxious to work with you on ZERO-LASH Hydraulic Lifters but suggest that we with-hold quotation until the design is worked out further. Immediately on receipt of the requested information, our Engineering Department will make the necessary computations and we shall submit design to you for your approval.
