Oy2-W-52223. -2- maintained continuously at a very high temperature, there would be a collection of fuel for a good many minutes after starting and also in general running during cold weather under certain full throttle conditions. Hives' report Hsl/LG.1.9.21 mentions "The car fitted with the exhaust heated throttle and the draining scheme immediately it was started up could be put on full throttle without any popping, spluttering or missing fire..... We have also tried a car with the exhaust heated throttle without the draining. This is not near-ly so good as when the draining is fitted: it is all right when the throttle gets hots, but the warming up process is unsatisfactory". Considering our own results, the noise from the butterfly throttle in the exhaust, and the fact that the pipe under the crankchamber drags in the snow and pushes the carburetter out of square, we think that at the present our present induction system on the whole is a more desirable combination than the heated throttle.
