re 40/50 Chassis.

Springfield Vaporizer Scheme for Induction Pipes.

With further reference to our discussion on the above, I have now been able to obtain from Springfield information on this matter as per the copy of letter attached.

I also enclose prints A.1330 and Al393/4 and complete arrangements drawing Al414, which is their latest instruction as to the manufacture of this scheme.

I also enclose Mr. Caswell's report on the Derby hot spot throttle scheme as mentioned in the attached report from OY.

The object of this enquiry was as to the restriction in the return pipes from the boilers, and you will note that they state no restriction is arranged. At the same time they are still satisfied that they obtain the best results with this scheme.

I shall be glad, therefore, if you can let me have any specific faults which you have experienced with this scheme, as compared with the hot throttle scheme, as I am certainly anxious to demonstrate to them if possible in what way the hot throttle scheme has the advantage, as according to the last paragraph of OY's report, it would appear that they are still persevering with the vaporiser scheme.

E.P.
