Manifold makes no difference to the exhaust note either with the cut-out open or shut. We have welded a partition dividing the top manifold into two portions. This does not alter the exhaust note.
At the same time our tests show that there is a very distinct difference in exhaust note without cutout open when comparing Phantom either 9 EX., 12 EX., or 14 EX., with the S.S. cars.
The first production chassis have been tested on the road and the first two chassis are remarkably good if we take the Test Dept., report, and one knows that they are anxiously looking for trouble. They say except for the chassis not being complete in a few details they have nothing to do to them.
You might let us know by wire when you expect to return, giving us time to reply so that we can let you know whether there are any tests we should like confirming before the car returns to Derby.
