Phantom III.

Further to E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}1/HP.2.11.36, the following is the present position of design work in progress to reduce the material and labour cost of this chassis.

ITEM.
(1) Cheapened side spare wheel carrier. LeC.5314.
(2) Reduced machining of front suspension spindle - N.Sch.4907.
(3) Modified machining of lower half crankcase - LeC.5313.
(4) Modified design of bottom tappet - LeC.5371.
(5) Simplified wing stay fixing to radiator - LeC.5318.
(6) Wraith type propeller shaft N.Sch.4928.
(7) Ordering small pressings common to all cars in larger quantities.

PRESENT POSITION
Sfy's labour estimate shows reduction of 26%. Instructed experimentally for bumper test - now awaiting results of tests.
Awaiting results of experimental tests - saves 10d per chassis.
Saves approx. 3/- per chassis - tested experimentally successfully - instructed for production 27.11.36.
Final design completed and issued on 10.11.36.
Estimated saving 3/10d (with charges) per chassis instructed experimentally 6.11.36.
Design issued 26.10.36.
Awaiting figures from O.O. on a list of parts submitted for quotations on 2.11.36.
