S/W. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. from Lp.{Mr Lappin} 86116. WST Lp.{Mr Lappin}3/LAM.15.3.35. Re: P.100 HEADLAMPS. 4.B.IV. The headlamps on this car again gave trouble on the run down with Major Bulman. An examination on the following day in London showed that the dipping mechanism bracket had broken clean off. The car has since been to Messrs. Lucas' and they have now made the lamps O.K. How long they will last remains to be seen. The complete reflectors with mechanism have now been changed in both these lamps since they were fitted and on one occasion Lucas' changed the complete lamp, swopping the glasses over. My experience so far shows that the lamps are satisfactory from the point of view of illumination and dipping, but are absolutely unreliable with regard to the dipping mechanism. The lamp movement on the Bentley may be a contributing factor to this state of affairs. Lp.{Mr Lappin} | ||
