EAC. engine on the test bench - the HP. and performance is equal to the other engine. This engine has the correct crankcase for the mounting to suit the standard 40/50 HP. chassis. It also has a modified oil retaining device at the rear end of the crankshaft. This has been successful on test so far. It is the first engine we have had which has not leaked oil at the back of the crankshaft. This engine will also have on it the screw adjustment for the tappets. It also has the altered position for the oil pipe feed for the overhead valve gear. This engine is going into the car which we are preparing for PN.{Mr Northey} We have retained the same compression pistons as we have in the first engine which we fitted into a chassis. We shall be using a similar Knave carburetter for this engine. As regards detonations. We agree that the chief factor controlling this is the fuel. In the case of S-G-11 which you have at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence, the detonations must be solely due to the fuel because any 20 HP. car will run 10,000 miles on a reasonably good fuel. With the EAC. engine we require practically twice the range of advance than we do on the 40/50 HP. On the EAC. we require approximately the same as we do on the 20 HP. We can contd:- | ||
