To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} 7010 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}7/MJ.21.8.31. CAR CRANKSHAFTS. X.5010. X.7010. R.{Sir Henry Royce} is expecting that any future car crankshafts will be produced in hardened material, therefore we suggest that the new crankshaft for the 25 HP. should be made in this material. Some time ago a Standardisation Sheet was sent round so that we could get these shafts on some of the production cars. We have not heard anything about them since. However, we have now run a 25 HP. car 10,000 miles with the hardened shaft and also a Phantom ll. We have also had experience of these shafts on the "R" engines so that we think that any risk of these shafts is now considerably reduced. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
