| 5830 To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/MJ.2.5.34. You have raised the question of supplying Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} with a 25 HP. chassis to enable him to carry out experiments on bodies. We consider this is a very important job which cannot afford to be neglected. At the moment we certainly cannot afford to release any of our experimental 25 HP. cars. The proposal we would like to make is we let Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} have the 25 HP. chassis which is at present used by Lp.{Mr Lappin} The Experimental Department make quite a lot of use of the car which Lp.{Mr Lappin} uses - we are always adding to that car experimental features which we require running and we have always found Lp{Mr Lappin}'s. criticisms very helpful. The chassis he has at the moment however is so much out of date that it is becoming less and less useful. It would, however, be perfectly satisfactory for body experiments. For Lp{Mr Lappin}'s. particular job a Bentley car would be the most useful. The car is mostly used for visiting R.A.F. units and they take an intense interest in the Bentley car and we know that there have been a number of occasions when we have been able to loan Lp.{Mr Lappin} a Bentley when he has been able to get into touch with people through letting them try the car which otherwise may have been difficult. We strongly recommend therefore that in order to satisfy Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} he takes over Lp{Mr Lappin}'s. car and Lp.{Mr Lappin} is provided with a Bentley.
