FUTURE 25 HP. BACK AXLE TUBES.
-------------------------------

Referring to R9/M28.5.31. I have been to see Vickers and I am visiting Tubes Ltd. with the object of going carefully over the procedure to see if costs can be reduced.

One of the big difficulties in my opinion is, the fact that the total number of tubes we require is relatively small, and therefore tool equipment cost cannot be allowed to go too high. In addition, a fair amount of experimental work is necessary in developing a specialised form of tube to be produced in a relatively cheaper manner, and it is difficult to interest people unless a really big output of tubes is likely to be attained. Anyway, I am going closely into the matter, and will do all that can be done to obtain the present type of axle tube at lower figures than we are at present paying.
