Dear Sir,

In view of our telephone conversation we have cancelled your previous request order for a first motion shaft.

Enclosed is a blue print (GW.961) showing the crank flywheel and the clutch in position for which you requested with a view to taking the drive direct off the flywheel.

We would rather you had driven through our first motion shaft, however as we are not aware of what problems you are up against we give herewith our suggestions of a drive taken direct off the flywheel. When the clutch complete is removed from the outside ring of bolts (A) a driving disc can be made and taken from the same bolts which should spigot on the centre race (B) to centralise. This should be balanced independently from the centre spigot before fitting.

Having thus fixed a driving plate to our flywheel we presume you will have your own arrangement of drive.

Our recommendation from there onward is that there should not be any overhung weight from the flywheel unless it has (a) a bearing housed in the rear wall of the clutch case where normally our first motion shaft is equipped with a ball race, or (b) a flexible coupling close up to the flywheel. Hoping this information will be of assistance and we mention that the drawing enclosed is to size from which dimensions can be taken.

As to dimensions for a centralizing spigot these are given on the 1st. motion shaft drawing which you already have.

Yours faithfully,

sd
