10,000 MILE BENCH TEST OF STANDARD CONTACT BREAKER AND DISTRIBUTOR.

The above test has been carried out on a standard EAC. distributor for the purposes of comparison with experimental tests.

After about 8000 miles it was found necessary to trim the platinum points to obtain regular sparking, a large pip having formed on the lever point.

Apart from these pips which rapidly formed again after trimming, the wear of the platinum points has been negligible.

Greasing the cam every 2000 miles (as per instruction book) appears to reasonably maintain the lubrication of the rubbing block.

The rotor has burnt considerably at the leading edge causing increased nitric fumes effect.

Rusting of the metal parts occurred but by fitting the ventilated head this action was considerably reduced.

Otherwise everything functioned and remained O.K. throughout the test.

HEW.
