COPY EFC. WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}30. 11th July, 1925. DISTRIBUTOR HEAD WITH SIX 1/16" HOLES DRILLED IN THE TOP TO PROVIDE EXTRA VENTILATION. Comparative tests carried out on the bench rig with a drilled head and a standard one, have shown that extra ventilation increases the life of the plated and nickel parts as well as the steel cam on the standard contact breaker and distributor. This was proved by running the extra ventilated distributor head alternatively with the standard, and observing the amount of oxidation of the metal parts. It was definitely observed that there was considerably less, nitrous oxide, and oxide of iron deposited on the exposed metal parts, with the extra ventilated distributor, than with the standard. Another point observed was that vaselining the exposed metal parts initially protected them to a certain extent against the effect of ionized air. HEW. | ||
