45" SPRINGS TO FIRTHS DESIGNS.
--------------------------

In order to ascertain whether we can obtain an increase in life by adopting Firths designs for the 45" front springs for the 40/50 HP. chassis, in agreement with Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} we have ordered up three pairs of the above springs, one pair to consist of a 1100 lbs. spring and 1150 lbs.

The first pair of these have been delivered, and I have instructed the Order Office to hand them over to the Experimental Dept.

The purpose of the springsis to test them on the bumping rig in order to obtain comparative figures for the Firths design of 45" against the R.R. designs which have been used up to the moment.
