PHANTOM SMALL DIA. ALUMINIUM INDUCTION PIPE AND WATER HEATED HOT SPOT.
We have compared the performance for power output and distribution at full load of the standard induction system and exhaust heated hot spot with the experimental aluminium pipe of 1.7" internal diameter and water heated hot spot, on the test bench.
With regard to power, there is very little difference between these two systems, the 1.7 dia. pipe gives an average of nearly 2% increase of power between speeds of 1250 and 2000 r.p.m. but the power above 2500 r.p.m. is approx. 1.2% lower than standard.
The distribution full throttle - 650 to 1000 r.p.m. - with cold 'hot spot' is not quite so good as that given by the standard under the same conditions but when their respective hot spots are in operation the difference cannot be detected.
