x7370 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} 2/MJ. 20.3.30. PHANTOM 11 BRAKE SERVO FAILURE. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} has produced a servo lining which has torn away from the plate (See EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}11/H19.3.30.). We are not very alarmed about this as we have run a great distance on experimental cars without the least sign of trouble. However, we observe that the rivets are rather heavily counter sunk on this woven cotton lining. As you are aware, the wear on the servo lining is negligible but we think that the .050 left under the rivet head is too little for non-impregnated lining and suggest that this dimension should be increased to .075 immediately.
