To Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} For Depot Sheet. n7370. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}6/MJ. 21.3.30. SERVO SQUEAKS. The S.S. servo is lined with a non-impregnated woven cotton lining. This is similar to the material used on the slipper drive and has been adopted because it gives more consistent results than Halo under all conditions and more especially is uneffected by changes in temperature. On cars that have only been in service a short time there is a tendency for the servo to emit a high pitched squeak occasionally. This can be overcome by treating the linings with a few drops of a mixture of five parts of paraffin and one part of engine oil. Sufficient should only be applied to eliminate the squeak, usually about a table-spoon full which can be inserted in equal proportions through the drain holes. The servo efficiency is not impaired by this and in our experience, once a servo has been so treated, a recurrence of the trouble is unusual. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
