x4050. DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: "DUNLOPS, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM", TELEPHONE: BIRMINGHAM CENTRAL 4108 (P.B.E) EXTENSION No. YOUR REF: OUR REF: Technical Director. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM 28th May 1930. Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. For the attention of Mr. W.A. Robotham. Dear Sirs: We have your letter of the 24th in which you advise receipt of the modified Silent tread tyre. The writer fears that there was some little misunderstanding at our last interview. It was understood that the arrangement was to send you two tyres for inspection and test - not two types. As a matter of fact we have had under test a number of modifications, but fear that the others would be regarded as still less satisfactory from the non-skid appearance point of view, although we think satisfactory in regard to silence. It may be that we have in our trials, stressed silence too much, and that we should make further modifications by adding to the rugged nature of tread appearance, but we very much fear that it is impossible to do this withoutmaking the tyres too noisy. In the meantime we should appreciate it if you would kindly advise us as to the views of your London House on the non-skid appearance of the tyres you have sent up. Yours faithfully, For DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LTD. L. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Paull Technical Director. | ||
