HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 35H BY.1/G.2.11.37. PHANTOM III - HYDRAULIC TAPPETS. The mileages of cars quoted on the third sheet of Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}S/R.29.10.37. are incontrovertible. However, tappets in service give trouble, and as we are not clear why I would recommend that since we must fit a new camshaft to cars where tappet trouble has occurred we should fit the new "long toe" type and replace plunger in the little cylinder by a solid distance piece. This should effectually prevent recurrence of trouble and give us time to find real cause. Camshafts removed could be reground, and if and when we, have intelligently cleared the matter the old type camshaft could be replaced. | ||
