received that night and attempted to fit as I had an important meeting on Air Ministry work in London the next day. To my surprise I found it quite impossible to get the old pump off without taking parts of the body to pieces. I had therefore to strap the new pump up in space under the bonnet, leaving the old one in position.

This rig did actually get me to Town satisfactorily and I have now redesigned the attachment by fitting shouldered studs in place of bolts and nuts. The next time the pump goes, therefore, I have only to remove the three nuts at the top to unship it.

(3) 3rd September:
On the journey from Cromer up to Town the stoneguard under the nearside front wing broke away from the welding on the front wing tip, tore away the wire netting from the bolt attachments on the top of the wing, and fell down on to the wheel, snatching at it slightly at speed but not enough to cause loss of control.

I was, fortunately, near a garage so did not have to lie in the dust myself to disconnect the back end of this guard so that I could proceed.

At the present moment this has not been dealt with and I am hoping that no stones will dent the wing until I can hand the car over for refitting.

(4) 8th September:
After slowing down I noticed the dynamo charging had ceased. It came in again at 2500 revs. and during the 150 mile journey continued in the same way, that is to say, it slowed right down before cutting out, but did not come in again until fairly high engine revs. This, however, has now apparently cured itself as it is functioning normally without my having taken any action about it.

These are the recent troubles, the early ones (water pump leak etc.) having been dealt with shortly after the car was delivered.

The points, however, where I think improvement
