JOHN SUMMERS & SONS LIMITED. HAWARDEN BRIDGE STEEL WORKS, SHOTTON, CHESTER. Reference. RFS.P.1/1. Messrs.Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd., 16, Conduit St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, London, W.1. Dear Sirs, 3½ LITRE BENTLEY. I am writing to give you a few impressions of my 3½ Litre Bentley, which I have now had since January, and which has covered approximately 9,000 miles. In the past I have owned many different makes of fast cars, but I think I may safely say that the Bentley is certainly the best all-round machine that I have ever owned. Its greatest assests in my opinion are - 1. The extraordinary sense of security which it gives one, owing to its complete controllability under all conditions. 2. Being able to travel at a very high speed with complete silence and smoothness. 3. Its complete reliability and economy. The features under item No.1 are very marked, and no doubt the extraordinary steady steering and smooth braking are very largely responsible for this feeling of security. The springs I would say was a good compromise but I feel that it would be improved if there were some control of the damping provided. To sum up, I have never owned what I consider an ideal motor car, and I suppose I never shall, but the Bentley is further along the road to achieving this objective than anything I have previously owned. Yours faithfully, (Sgd.)Richard F.Summers. | ||
