Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/MA. 9th May, 1934. Richard Summers, Esq., John Summers & Sons Ltd., Hawarden Bridge Steel Works, Shotton, Chester. Dear Dick, Thank you very much for your letter of the 8th instant and your comments on the Bentley and the India Tyres both of these are most interesting. I am sorry we have mixed up such a delectable place as Burton Point with proletarian Flint; I hope the voltage regulator will arrive in due course. With regard to the gear lever rattle there are two or three varieties of this and I want to make sure that we are working on the right one. There is one rattle of the gear lever itself in the gear quadram which is almost impossible to cure. There is another one in the trigger mechanism itself. This is divided into two parts, one at the bottom due to side play, and one due to the operating rod vibrating vertically. If you will do a little experimental work for us and tell us just where your trouble is we will make sure we do not send you anything which is no good. Referring to your wing movement, the difficulty is to get a car to work on. If at any time you should be going away without your car, or for some reason you do not wish to use it for a few days we might like to borrow it to see whether it is susceptible to the various cures we have been playing with. | ||
