| X.250 To EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.7/HP.24.2.34. c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wer. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re Pendulum Lever Steering Cover on Bentley. I am sending you herewith a blueprint of EW.87 Arrangement of bonnet shewing sheet metal cover which envelops the top of the pendulum lever. We find in practice that in nine cases out of ten this cover tears away in time from its fixings due to the mudguard bearing on top of it. The mudguard is formed to entirely envelop this cover and it is suggested that the cover might be done away with it. I do not think we can do this because the cover does penetrate through the bonnet and also ensures that the steering lock is not impaired by anything the coachbuilder may do, but I should be glad if you will look into this job before coming up next week so that we can discuss it.
