X9946 To PN.{Mr Northey} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} S E C R E T. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG18.6.24. Referring to PN{Mr Northey}8/DN17.6.24. We suggest that the car you take to the Grand Prix should be fitted with the latest scheme of 4-wheel brakes, but also should have an EAC. engine. We think by that time we should have an EAC. engine with the latest modifications so that you would have an opportunity of testing whether it was really suitable for a speed model. When you say the general appearance should be attractive - I am afraid we have no car which comes under this category. As regards open cars - we have two standard 40/50 HP. cars with larger Barker open bodies; these bodies were never finished and the trimming was only carried out on the front seats. Both of these cars are at present in France running 4/500 miles per day. One of the bodies has already run 10,000 miles in France, and all the wings etc. had to be patched up. We suggest that if it is decided that you take a standard 40/50 HP. car, you should choose your car complete with the body and xxxxxxxxxx everything-else you want, and then send it here for us to convert it to the 4-wheel brake car - as all the cars have got to be converted, it will only mean pushing one of them ahead. Even if the car is to be fitted with an EAC. engine, it would be better for you to choose a standard 40/50 HP. car which is already fitted with a body and for us to fit the brakes and engine to it. contd:- | ||
