X.3907 Extract from OY1/G3.6.21. X.3764 (16) HESS BRIGHT STANDARD BEARINGS, with steel cages are fitted in all four road wheels. It is believed that this type of standard American bearing made both by Hess-Bright and U.S.BB Brg. Co can be used throughout in place of the present bronze cage bearings, which cost twice the price because special. The standard bearings are found to be equally silent and long wearing. They have been used in large quantities on service work during the war, in all positions, and have given no trouble. They are all the "deep groove type" without entering slots, and with raceway radius equal to 52% of the ball diameter. The pressed steel cage of the type shown is used on practically all high grade bearings in this country. Where rust is to be feared, the same cage can be obtained in Monel Metal sheet. OY. | ||
