SIR G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} STANLEY WHITE, BT{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} (MANAGING DIRECTOR.) Your Ref. Our Ref. ENGINES F/HCM-2. 23rd April 1934. E.W. Hives Esq, Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd, Derby. Dear Mr Hives, Many thanks for your letter of the 20th instant. I am very glad to note that the parts for the new axle will be leaving Derby in about ten days time, but I am afraid this is going to preclude all chance of my having the car by Whitsuntide. I agree with your views in regard to the lead problem, and would suggest the only solution is, some proper research work being done here in England. I should be very glad if you could give me any comments on Mr Robotham's and Mr Coverley's views on the Graphite Lead Bronze Company's efforts on lead bronze, and Mr Hopkins' development, and how they consider this Firm's work compares with the Allison. If I could have a copy of their notes some time, on their visit to America, I should be extremely grateful. I am very glad to hear that you are coming down to see us. Please give us two or three days' notice when you are coming down to see the biplane, as I should very much like to be here on that day. Yours sincerely, A.H.R. Fedden. | ||
