To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/LES.{Ivan A. Leslie} Ex. Dept. Works. SR/VA3/JB.26.9.35. Levallois. Re: Loads on controllable Shock Dampers. PHII and Bentley Chassis. With reference to your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/LES 2/KW.5.6.34. paragraph 11 under the heading of "Shock Dampers", we note that the initial ballpin load is 30 lbs for Ph II shock dampers. We shall be pleased to learn from you if the above load can be increased without causing damage to the internal parts of the dampers; if so, will you please let us know the Maximum to which the load can be increased on Ph II and Bentley chassis on which controllable dampers are fitted. For your information we are attending to chassis 187-TA (Continental fitted with 5 plate stiffer springs) in order to overcome a complaint of "Springing too flexible - causing instability of steering at high speeds", and we wish to increase the initial load on the dampers (which we find upon testing on the bench is 30 lbs) to a permissable maximum load. An early reply will greatly oblige. "VA" | ||
