TO ......) FROM BA. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) Copy to ..... RG.{Mr Rowledge} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/M1.2.27. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DAMPER IN STEERING. X8731 X2354 We send herewith N. Sch.-2358/EDn which is shewn a proposal for cutting out the shock damper on extreme locks so as to facilitate shunting. It will be seen that it consists merely of bye-passes opened by the piston, causing the shock damper to work under pressure only over a range of about 8 or 10° in the middle, the assumption being that steering wobbles occur almost exclusively when the car is going straight. We are passing this suggestion on to R.{Sir Henry Royce} and in the meanwhile you may like to test it. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
