Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /GR. {George Ratcliffe} S/JAB.22.I.39. DAILY REPORT. Paulin Bentley II. - B-27-LE. Engine mounted in chassis and gearbox coupled up, O.K. Engine controls and pedal mechanism connected, O.K. Original servo and governor box to be fitted to gearbox. Dynamo mounted with extra stop to prevent rotation with armature at continued high speeds. Battery securing studs fitted with lock-nuts. Phantom III ignition coil mounted in spare position for check with existing Bentley on Montlhéry during consumption tests. 1.7/8" S.U. Carburetters and manifold fitted complete with dampers. Large air silencer and intake fitted complete. Exhaust system coupled up, O.K. Engine filled with Castrol "XXL" Gearbox " " "XL" Rear Axle " " Wakefield's "HP" Special ignition governor tower fitted to engine complete. Original gear lever retained and necessary parts fitted to suit. Frame drilled and 5/16" bolts fitted to retain selector gate on frame with engine and gearbox in chassis. Checked, O.K. for freedom in central position on gate quadrant. Ignition timed T.D.C. midway of quadrant for consumption tests. All hubs refilled with grease. Throttles checked full open, O.K.
