40 mm. GUN MOUNTING.

The L.M. & S. modified the horizontal parking stop on the pedestal type mounting, and sent us a drawing of the modification the day the gun had to be despatched to Whale Island.

We expressed our disapproval of this procedure, whereupon they said they were contracting direct with the Admiralty and in consequence suggested that they were at liberty to make any modifications to the mounting that they thought fit, if these were agreed to by the Admiralty representative.

We spoke to Captain Green on the telephone and I attach a copy of the confirming letter, which is self-explanatory.
