Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} ---- UNIVERSAL JOINTS. I hesitate to accept the idea that having failed to give a really good job for the present size of joint, we will be any better off with a larger one with the same ideas behind it. Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} has been convinced that the RR. joint with needle bearings is conceived and produced on sound assumptions. It works, and can be fitted and forgotten. I am strongly of the opinion that moving, we should make an effective move, fit the RR. joint, with its carefully specified fits and clearances, and accept its increased cost as being an insurance with an 'all in' policy.
