TWIN PETROL PUMPS FOR 3½ LITRE BENTLEY CHASSIS. The S.U. Co. are to supply twin petrol pumps for the first 185 Bentley chassis, and it is necessary that you test every pump before fitting to a chassis. The testing must be carried out on a rig which is as far as necessary the same as the petrol system lay-out on the Bentley chassis. The following are the required lengths of piping etc. for the rig :- 1 Fuel Tank of approx. 2 Gall. capacity. 1 Petrol Filter - FB.577. 1 Petrol Tap. - FB.731. 1 Pipe from Tap to Filter - FB.743. 1 Pipe from Filter to Pump - FB.725. (1 Pipe from Pump to Carb. Level 5/16" x 3' 4". (At approx. 13" from the carb. end of this (pipe, another pipe 5/16" x 5" is let in. (This will represent the feeds to both (carbs. - se rough sketch). 1 Pipe from fuel tank to tap 5/16" x 12' - At the tank end of this is fitted a standard standpipe which is submerged into the fuel. It is not necessary that the length of pipe be outstretched, it can be coiled into one or two large coils to prevent waste of room. The attached rough sketch will give an idea of the lay-out. INSPECTION. Before the pumps are tested the following inspections must be made :- (a) That the casting is clean and well scratch brushed. (b) That the 2.B.A. mounting bolt bosses are not fractured. (c) That the exterior plug hexagons are not damaged. | ||
