X4338 To Test Dept. EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 2/T4.12.24. RE CHASSIS 3-GII. When this chassis was handed over to the Test Dept. by the Expl. Dept. it was agreed that certain electrical experimental features thereon might continue to run on the car - ref. EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 2/T18.8.24,- e.g. (1) Tall Redmanol encased coil TR {Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} 4. (2) P & R 6-compartment moulded cell case battery 3b. (3) Dynamo R3 with annealed copper commutator. and it was arranged with the Test Dept. that they [word struck through, with handwritten '(1) & (3)' above] would keep us advised of anything which might happen. It is now understood that the engine has been changed in this chassis. Therefore the Test Dept. should advise us as to what has happened to these various experimental items. We believe it was agreed that they would be transferred to the new engine. Has this been done? It is important that these experiments should not be lost sight of. We should have preferred that the Test Dept. had not accepted them in the first instance if they are not prepared, as arranged, to keep us informed. It may be remembered that the reason, a good one, was that because this car is doing a lot of running about, these particular experiments, which necessitated running, might stay on the chassis. Therefore they should still stay on if for any reason the engine is changed. EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} | ||
