COPY. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Re: Trip in France with 118-MC, fitted with Salamanca type Cabriolet. I attach herewith report upon the performance of 118-MC, during the recent trip abroad, which BJ. called for as a condition regarding the arrangement concerning Henning Junr. accompanying me. It always seems my fate to have to write something dismal and grumbly and complaining of this car. Certainly nobody regrets the necessity for this more than I:- Period. 18 days. Weather. Mostly fine and hot. Route. Calais, Chalons, Bourg, Grenoble, Avignon, Carcassonne, Luchon, Pau, Biarritz, Limoges, Versailles, Calais. Mileage. Approximately 2,800. Petrol Consumption. 12.25 m.p.g. Oil Consumption. 1600 m.p.g. Tyres. High pressure Dunlops and Miller cord. About 45 lbs pressure. Wear indicating a total life of 5000 miles. Involuntary stops on road. Six. (Three mechanical, three electrical). Details later. Total time of involuntary Stops. 2½ hours. Other Failures not Involving Stops on the Road. Two. (One mechanical, one ignition). Other unpleasant features:- (a) Continuous bumping of front axle on buffers when traversing rough roads. (b) Heavy shocks on steering wheel when traversing rough roads. | ||
