To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} c. By/CRL.{C. R. Lisson} REAR JACKS - WRAITH. We have noticed that when the axle is tilted forward 2° by means of packing the rear jacks operate at an unsuitable angle. We have jacked up on a car without packings when the jacks lean 6° backwards at the bottom, this becoming 8° when packings are fitted, the twist of the axle when jacking the car we have found to be negligible. We suggest, therefore, that on the first 24 cars the key-way on the jack brackets should be altered so that the jacks are 2° from the vertical. In subsequent cars the keyway in the axle tube could be altered. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
