Road tests concerning a loose rod, brake squeaking, and excessive oil consumption issues.

2/ the rod and will notice if it works loose again now it has bedded itself in. I wrote to Wallis at Pargo asking him to bring a 40/50 to try over the same road as the Goshawk to compare the general riding and particularly the steering but there is not a car available. Wallis is coming down here himself tonight and we will go out together and get his views on the car.
The brakes are working and wearing well except for the bad squeaking. No doubt the rings on the drums will prevent this. 74H brakes do not squeak so far and we hope they will continue to be silent. We have made a test on 74H regarding the oil consumption by removing the feed to the rocker shaft as suggested but this does not make a very perceptable difference. There are many small oil leaks particularly from the pump drive shaft. The cylinders are very wet each time we examine them and the excessive consumption of oil appears to be due to too much oil getting into the cylinders and going off through the exhaust
