Re CHASSIS 18.2.IV.

You will note that in my last letter I remarked that it was necessary to reset the exhaust valves at frequent intervals. I now find it now necessary to reset them every day. As the mileage is now nearing 5000, I do not propose to dismantle the cylinder head as the engine is running quite well. The new brakes are still remaining effective with occasional squeaks.

You will see on my Daily Report that we have had clutch slip. This takes place if one runs the car slowly, for instance on entering a town, or having to run slowly for some distance. It will then slip violently on picking up. Otherwise it is doing very well.

We have cured the scuttle knock which you noted on the car at Derby, by reducing the compression of the rubbers on the insulation bolts.

The axle is still noisy but no worse than when I last mentioned it.

We have not heard from you regarding the Wind Screen Wiper. Do you wish us to make this O.K. through Paris?
