SHOCK DAMPERS.

With reference to the modifications (which have just been instructed by Mr. Booth) to the shock dampers by which grooves were added to the sliding pistons, and the damping valve was reduced in diameter, this matter has become of such importance that it has been definitely decided that all 40/50 cars must have these modifications made to the dampers before they are despatched.

Our previous instruction was that the improvement was to be embodied immediately, but now that Sales have tried their Demonstration car modified in this manner they are urgently pressing for all cars to be so treated, as it cures the difficulties which they have been complaining of on the hand controlled shock damper.

With regard to a Depot Sheet, the Experimental Department are issuing the instructions for one to be prepared.

Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} has authorised me to issue the above instructions.
