R.R.Standards.

Since starting the work on the Rolls-Royce Standards six weeks ago, the following has been accomplished:-

Studs.
Studs have never before been standardised at R.R. but these have now been tabled in suitable steps for design requirements, and in accordance with the latest methods of production.

Bolts.
New tables for bolts with hexagon heads have been prepared in suitable graduations with the minimum number of steps in length that it is thought will be required. The intention is that these hexagon headed bolts will be used entirely in future.

Rivets.
There were once some very meagre standards for Rolls-Royce rivets which have long since fallen into disuse. We find that the B.E.S.A. rivets of all normal types will satisfy Rolls-Royce requirements, and these will be used in future and tabled accordingly.

Screw Plugs.
A table of standard screw plugs has been decided on and models of these will be made for test for subsequent adoption. These plugs are of the non-milled hexagon type, and will be used entirely on chassis work. They will also be used where possible for aero work, but not exclusively on account of weight and other conditions.

Undercuts.
A standard table of undercuts has been decided, and is being put into circulation.
