To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from CJ. CJ2/E25/3/26 - 3 - For us to depart from this well-established procedure would at once set people asking why we were doing so and our competitors would very quickly put it about that our reason for doing so was that we were troubled badly with wobbles. I am sure that people who are responsible for the sale of the car would be dead against any such procedure. It would also call attention to the fact that we were in trouble with our springing and this could not fail to be bad for the reputation of the car. The experts seem to think that there is plenty of room for deflection of the back springs and they are not anxious on this point. It is with the front springs, where the clearance is so small, that you get the heavy bumps. Please do not reply to this until you have received a report which I understand DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} may be dictating to-morrow or the next day. As regards the question of the susceptibility of low pressure tyres to puncture and side-slipping, the opinion is that low pressure tyres are more susceptible to both. CJ. | ||
