[Handwritten note: 602?] Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.7/MA. July 5th., 1933. R.M. Smith Esq., Messrs. Joseph Lucas Ltd., Well Street, Birmingham, 19. Dear Mr.Smith, Some time ago on the occasion of a visit paid to your research laboratories you mentioned that if ever we should like to use your freezing chamber for any car tests, you would be happy to arrange it. We very much appreciated this offer at the time and as we are now anxious to test the starting from cold capabilites of our new Bentley chassis fitted with S.U. carburetters, we wonder if you would be good enough to arrange for us to have the use of your refrigerator for this purpose. We should of course wish to meet any expense which might be entailed by your goodselves by our use of the apparatus. Perhaps you would kindly indicate a suitable day for our tests. The overall dimensions of the car are - length 15 feet and width 6 feet. Thanking you in anticipation. I remain,, Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
