Dear Sirs,

16th. September 1936.

PETROL PUMPS.

Mr. Dixon in our Experimental Department has drawn my attention to the fact, as a result of his visit yesterday to your Works, that whilst you are recommending the new type zinc impregnated diaphragm to replace the early German type, which we are at present using, that owing to trouble in the production of the cotton which it is necessary for you to obtain and deliver to Germany in the first place for them to treat, you do not recommend us making the actual change until the improved cotton fabric which you have at present in hand becomes available in the impregnated form in Germany, and that it will be approximately a month from the present time before the fabric in question can be delivered to these Works.

Under the above circumstances we will unquestionably accept your guidance in this matter and continue with the type of fabric we are at present using for the diaphragm until such times as the new material built up on the improved cotton weave becomes available.

Thanking you for being good enough to put this matter clearly to us, as it will certainly prevent the possibility of some confusion arising had we immediately adopted the new form of fabric where the cotton base was not from your point of view up to its duty for the exacting requirements of our service.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.

TECHNICAL PRODUCTION ENGINEER.
