We have just instructed a set of patterns for the 8-cyl. cast iron units. We want to instruct a high-power head to go on this crankcase as an alternative to the Conventional. We do not, however, wish to instruct exactly the same design of high-power head as we have already been running. We should like a scheme fitting inserted dry liners to PD.308 to be detailed and instructed as the alternative pattern. This will enable us to get running on the dry liner aluminium engine without an entirely separate pattern.

When we have proved out the liner part of it, if successful, we can get a complete pattern made incorporating all the modifications necessary to produce a successful engine as enumerated in Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner}6/N.21.2.39.
