Re: Chassis 9.B.5 at Park Wards.

During Messrs.Dodd and Draper's visit to Messrs.Park Ward, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov.22nd. and 23rd. the following troubles arose:

1. The rear body bracket and step iron.

When the body was dropped on to the chassis, a variation of 1.000" between the aluminium block in the body runner and the body bracket was noticed. On F.CD.922 the body bracket was 6.300" from the spring anchorage, whereas the bracket on the chassis was only 5.300". Messrs. Park Ward moved the aluminium block along 1.000" to bring them into line. On all future B.5. chassis, the dimension 6.300" must be maintained, as future frames will have the body bracket in the correct position.

2. Difficulty in mounting the body on the frame was amplified, because the frame was .300" narrow at the rear. It would appear necessary to produce a jig for drilling the body runners to suit the body brackets on the frame, a replica of this jig would have to be in our possession to check the frame drilling. We however, agreed to leave off the step irons, to simplify drilling the body bottom sides from underneath, after which they can fit them.

3. Windscreen wiper motor.

On 9.B.5. the windscreen wiper motor is on the left hand side of the dashboard as shewn on F.CD.651, the body is to be altered to suit.

4. Rear wheel arches.

The rear wheel arches slope made it impossible to fit the front wheelarch silent bloc, Messrs.P.W. are altering this on 9.B.5. and modifying their jig for future bodies.
