The failure of the magneto distributor on the above car has been undoubtedly caused by contraction effects continuing to take place as the result of insufficient "curing" of the material originally.

Generally speaking, a certain amount of contraction goes on even after what one might describe as an adequate "curing" has been given to the material originally, but this contraction is limited to quite a small amount, whereas the contraction resulting from insufficient curing becomes a large factor, and will certainly result in splitting the piece as has occurred in this particular case.

We shall have to replace the part free of charge, and I would suggest that we liquidate the 15/- charge for patching up the broken distributor sufficiently to enable the customer to carry on.
