Mr Barrington. X814 19.8.12 REPORT ON AMERICAN CONTINENTAL RIMS. With reference to the above we have tested these for 4000 miles but taking same allround should not recommend for use on our cars. THE FOLLOWING ARE THEIR DISADVANTAGES. 1. The wedges (Michelin type) used for fixing the rim to the wheel were such that very little tightening up brought them choc-a-bloc. [handwritten note: They are continuously breaking] Probably the above is arranged to prevent the rim becoming distorted by tightening excessively and thus preventing the split rim from working. We have found from experience that it is necessary in detach. rims to prevent same from creaking, to screw them up tight so that the fact of out not being able to tighten the above rims | ||
