Dear Sirs, We have received your letter ref. R/7/H.367/SA.386 from Derby. We are sorry that delay has occurred in answering it.

We received the radiator thermometer from the R.A.C. representative at Folkestone Harbour just prior to our crossing over to France. There was no time to change the instrument, and it was therefore necessary to bring the instrument along with us and change it at the first opportunity.

We have found upon dissembling the defective gauge that the trouble was caused by the face having sprung out, causing it to foul the finger. Upon clicking this back into its place the thermometer was quite satisfactory, and we tested it against the one sent out. We however fitted the new one which so far has been satisfactory.

We shall bring the gauge back with us when we return to Derby, and shall be pleased to forward same to you, should you wish to have it for examination.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS ROYCE LTD.
