The improved Watford Magneto, supply arrangements, and pricing with North & Sons Ltd.

On the 11th inst. we wrote North & Sons Ltd. as follows:- "The magneto (81062) which Mr.North brought here today "was fitted in a chassis and tested and the improvement "is sufficiently marked to justify our instructing you "to proceed on the same lines as regards the fitting of "the sleeve in the production of all further magnetos "of this type. "According to our records, you have up to the present "delivered to us 192 magnetos of this type and it is "probable we shall ask you to fit new sleeves in all of "them. "It is important that arrangements be made to maintain "delivery of new magnetos at the rate of 15 per week and "in addition arrangements should be made which will "ensure that the magnetos already delivered to us are "changed over at the rate of 15 per week. "Mr.North promised to give this matter his personal "consideration and we now await your proposals in the "matter." We are now in receipt of North & Sons' reply, dated 14th inst., copy of which is attached hereto. You will note Norths are proceeding with the manu- facture of the magnetos in accordance with the sample machine No.81062 submitted by Mr.North. You will further note that on account of this refinement of manufacture North & Sons are asking a higher price, namely, £10.10.0 per magneto, as against the present price of £9.10.0. You will also note that the 192 magnetos already delivered cannot be modified, but will have to be entirely re-built and as regards this Norths make the suggestion that we should return the magnetos to them and they will credit us for same in full, £9.10.0 each, provided we place an order with them bringing the total number of magnetos of this type to be delivered, including the balance of the existing order, to 400 at £10.10.0 each.
