Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/Hyl/15713. 3. From experience gained by making this test I should say that the Pendulum Steering lever ought to be strengthened and made of better section. I think the section ought to be altered so that it would be better for torsion than it is at present as the ball stud head projects quite a good distance from the lever. It WILL Be noticed that the front springs broke very frequently, this appeared to happen when the spring clips became loose, due probably to the leather pad settling down. During the latter part of the test we clamped the spring plates of the front springs together by a clip, and this clip was made to bear against the front axle. After this was done the springs did not break so frequently and it almost seems that if we can hold the spring plates really tightly together and keep them tightly held together the springs will not be so likely to break. | ||
